Edward Norton's Narration Meets Documentary Film with a Purpose
What it was like working on a film with Spike Lee's editor and the producer of an Oscar nominated film
I woke up to the best news today! This documentary film that has been in the works since 2018 is finally being announce to the world! Sometimes in this industry you’ll work on projects for years that you can’t really tell anyone about because it’s all hush hush, so to get to share about it brings back all the initial excitement about working on it! Here it is ‘Fasting and The Longevity Revolution.’
The doc, which is currently in production, is produced by Chiara Tilesi through her production outfit Frequency Production. Her most recent feature credit is the Oscar-nominated anthology Tell it like a Woman. She is also the founder of the non-profit We Do It Together.
Based on research by Italian-American biologist Dr. Valter Longo and other field experts, the film’s synopsis reads: Fasting and the Longevity Revolution travels from tiny villages in Calabria and Sardinia to cities like Milan, Genoa, and Los Angeles, and into the mountains of southern Ecuador to reveal that genetic mutations, fasting, or both can make simple organisms live 10 times longer and protect humans from cancer, diabetes, dementia and heart disease.
I came late to the project but am very glad to have gotten the chance to work with Chiara, Valter and Barry. Who are all three incredible humans and creatives. I’ve learned so much just listening to Valter and watching the film I can’t wait for the rest of the world to get to experience it for themselves.
My small role on this doc has been to Post Supervise it. I’ve taken over for a previous post super who had to step away for another project. We’ve just started the festival submissions. I can’t wait to see where we get to premiere it.
I’m going to write a breakdown on how we posted this doc for those who are interested. It’s definitely been fun, working across multiple time zones in different countries adds a new layer of interesting to any project.
Until next time,
Shawna Carroll
This is awesome. Congratulations and I can't wait to hear more about it. I would love to interview some of the creators when it gets closer to festival debuts.
Ooh this is exciting! Look forward to hearing more. I wish I’d known you back when I was doing final post on The Atom - all my TV job contracts finished at the end of the offline and so I was never involved in grading or sound mix or any of that good stuff. So when I came to do it myself I really didn’t know what I was doing - was constantly having to get things explained to me! 😱😄
